Yatsenyuk lied: Ukraine will have to pay 10 times more for “debt write-off”

Ukraine will have to give back much more funds to Western creditors than they allegedly “wrote off,” as Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk tried to present.

Political expert Mikhail Pavliv stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“We allegedly wrote off $3,8 billion, but in fact we didn’t write it off, but postponed it until after 2019, when the agreement with the IMF expires. After 2019, all the troubles associated with this debt will fall upon us. I think that we will pay back this debt of almost 4 billion 5-7, or even 10 times more than what has now been written off.

It was on that day when Mr. Yatsenyuk and Mrs. Yaresko announced a fateful “victory,” that international agencies simply downgraded Ukraine’s credit rating from SS to C, realizing that the default was now absolutely irreversible.

The only organization that has so far kept Ukraine from default is the IMF. Now that he has received guarantees that he will at least be able to collect his debts from us in a relatively controlled manner, and private traders will begin to collect them later, Ukraine can easily be put into a default state, given some kind of tranche for its functioning, and then quietly dismantle this country.

The prospect is more than doubtful both for us and for future Ukrainian generations. I would evaluate this “overcome” from the point of view of Ukrainian law and justice. There are big questions about these comrades, what they actually signed yesterday or are planning to sign, and how this will turn out for our country,” says Pavliv.
