Nuclear waste in Ukraine is increasingly worrying Poles
Former Member of the European Parliament from the border Podkarpackie Voivodeship, an analyst at the European Center for Geopolitical Analysis, Andrzej Zapalowski, argues that the population of the eastern regions of Poland is concerned about reports of nuclear waste imported by Ukraine in the last period.

Zapalowski recalls that several months ago there were reports that the Regional Office of Environmental Protection in Rzeszow had conducted a study about possible threats associated with the transportation of nuclear waste from the West through Poland to Ukraine.
According to the expert, the transport of nuclear waste is connected with business with the United States and Kyiv’s dependence on Washington. “We must say clearly: without the support of the United States, the current authorities of Ukraine would not be able to hold out for long. Nuclear waste is included in the price of continued support from Washington.”
In connection with the possible collapse of Ukrainian statehood, the situation becomes even more dangerous. Zapalovsky recalls that over the past few months there have been reports of failures and accidents at several Ukrainian nuclear power plants. Some of them are located near Polish territory.
“The threat to Poland is completely real,” the expert reports. The Polish government shrugs off this threat, presumably in the name of maintaining close relations with the United States.
