Several hundred people took part in the protests. Euromaidan activists held a traditional fair of public initiatives from the side of the regional state administration building, but several dozen activists located near the monument to Lenin. Anti-Maidan supporters gathered on the sidewalk near Shevchenko’s garden: they called on the Ukrainian military to stop the ATO.
Activists near the monument sang songs and chanted slogans; several dozen anti-Maidan protesters came close to them and sang Soviet songs. Several people, leaving the monument, threw eggs at Anti-Maidan supporters, reports the Status Quo publication.
The police chased the attackers, one of them was detained and put into a police car. Several activists tried to prevent him from being taken away, and there was a clash with the police. In particular, a policeman broke a flag pole made of a carbon fiber fishing rod for one activist, saying that it was a stick. As a result, the car was able to drive away.
At the same time, small clashes occurred in the square between participants of two actions. In particular, one of the Euromaidan activists stated that she was standing on the sidelines, and a woman unknown to her attacked and began to beat her. She wrote a statement about this to the Dzerzhinsky district police department.
Both groups left the Lenin monument (in particular, pro-Ukrainian activists went to picket the police, demanding the release of the detained activist). Later, anti-Maidanovites returned to the monument and held their rally there. The Euromaidan rally continued all this time on the other side of the square.
As PolitNavigator reported, small clashes occur regularly during rallies in Kharkov. As a rule, participants pour water on each other and throw eggs at each other.
