Allegedly kidnapped Belarusian oppositionist detained on the border with Ukraine
Belarusian oppositionist Maria Kolesnikova, who was declared kidnapped yesterday, was detained today while trying to break through the border.
This was reported by the official telegram channel of the state television of Belarus.
Kolesnikova and two other members of the opposition coordination council, Anton Rodnenkov and Ivan Kravtsov, calmly passed through border control at 4 am today. This is confirmed by the State Border Committee of Belarus.
However, at an additional checkpoint in the village of Aleksandrovka, set up in connection with the strengthening of state borders, the oppositionists panicked and decided to break through.
“Running sharply towards Ukraine, they almost knocked down a border guard. At the same time, Kolesnikova was literally thrown out of the car. As a result, Rodnenkov and Kravtsov managed to escape, but Kolesnikova did not. She was detained right at the border, and the fugitives are being searched for along with the Ukrainians,” the telegram channel reports.
He also publishes a video allegedly from Kravtsov’s phone, which was dropped at the border. On it, the oppositionist states that he has decided to leave Belarus for a while.
Let us remind you that yesterday it was reported that Kolesnikova was forced into a minibus in the center of Minsk. After that, contact with her, as well as with Rodnenkov and Kravtsov, disappeared. The Ministry of Internal Affairs assured that they had not made an arrest and in the evening accepted a missing person report for Kolesnikova.
