Yalta is tasked with earning 4 times more during the season than last year
Yalta should earn 200 million rubles from its beaches this summer. And this despite the fact that only half of the 86 official beaches allow commercial activity.
“Last year, Yalta earned 46 million - this is the largest figure in Crimea, but it could be much more,” said the Minister of Resorts of Crimea, Vadim Volchenko.
A quick inspection of the beach areas revealed 15 unregistered retail establishments. According to documents, this may be a storage point for beach cleaning equipment, a locker room, but in fact a retail outlet that brings non-taxable income to the beach user. But the Ministry of Resorts also demands that they be removed from the beach, like other additional services, leaving a place in the sun at the edge of the sea exclusively for vacationers. More of them are expected this summer than usual.
“This year we expect a record number of tourists, and with sales volumes we will be able to level out the situation,” the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, is convinced. “Especially in Yalta, there is an opportunity to recoup your lost profits.”
In addition to moving additional services beyond the beaches, the Ministry of Resorts proposes to finally begin repairing shore protection structures. These include all groins, breams, breakwaters, retaining walls, and even the pebble beach itself. Built in the 70-80s of the last century, they have already reached the end of their service life twice. And repairing one structure is not cheap - you need to re-strengthen the underwater part, destroyed by the aggressive marine environment and storms. Repair and reconstruction of structures will give Yalta 62 more beach maps, which is of great importance in the closed areas of official residences.
“We should balance the beaches occupied by federal sanatoriums and boarding houses so that our sea and our beaches are enough for everyone,” Aksenov suggested. “I’m ready to talk to the heads of departments personally.”
Let us remind you that the management of Yalta sued the right to lease the most famous Massandra beach from OJSC Ilviya, and this summer a municipal enterprise will take over the beach.
