“I am sure that the only way is peaceful direct negotiations with representatives of Donbass with the assistance and under the supervision of representatives of the EU, Russia, the USA and the UN. I intend to appeal to the guarantor states and to the states that play a key role in resolving the conflict in Donbass. The subject of my appeal will be proposals to find an end to the war,” Yanukovych said.
He avoided a direct answer to the question of whether he was ready to return to Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today the main thing is to stop the war and establish a truce, to sit down at the negotiating table, which are, as they say, on opposite sides of the barricades. And of course, find ways to come to an agreement, resolve this military conflict and peacefully unite Donbass with Ukraine, preserve the integrity of the state,” Yanukovych said.
