Yanukovych refused to disperse the Maidan, agreeing to a new truce
Kyiv, February 19 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The Ukrainian government and the opposition announce a new truce and the beginning of negotiations. These are the results of today’s meeting between Viktor Yanukovych and Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Vitaliy Klitschko and Oleg Tyagnibok.

“As a result of the meeting, the parties announced: 1. A truce 2. The beginning of a negotiation process in order to stop the bloodshed, stabilize the situation in the country for the sake of civil peace,” the press service of the President of Ukraine reported.
“The assault and cleanup that were planned have been cancelled. A truce has now been declared and the negotiation process has begun to stabilize the situation. The main thing is to save human lives,” Yatsenyuk commented on the outcome of the meeting.
Meanwhile, singer Ruslana Lyzhichko has just performed from the Maidan stage. She addressed foreign countries in English, urging them not to believe in the government’s promises of a truce - special forces continue to surround the square, Ruslana clarified.
