Yanukovych planned to move the capital of Ukraine to Zaporozhye
Kyiv, February 24 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – In February last year, Viktor Yanukovych was supposed to lead the resistance in Kharkov, and the capital of Ukraine could be moved to Zaporozhye. Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov stated this on the “Right to Know” talk show.

According to him, the military and special forces were ready to support the legitimate President Yanukovych at that time.
“We had to think and make a decision about transferring the capital from Kyiv to Zaporozhye, for example. This is not a random guess. Arriving in Kharkov, I hoped that Yanukovych, as a legitimate president, would lead the resistance movement here to the junta that took power in Kyiv. He just needed to identify himself as a legitimate president. Those military units that were stationed in Kharkov, those special forces units that were there, were ready to carry out any command from Yanukovych. But he immediately boarded the plane and flew to Crimea, and confusion began in Kharkov,” Azarov said.
Let us recall that Yanukovych himself stated that the reason for refusing to participate in the fight against the coup participants was the threat of death.
