Yanukovych got a good chance to defeat Ukraine
The trial that started recently in Kyiv on charges of high treason against ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych will not be an easy walk for the Kyiv regime.

This is the opinion in the commentary to the online newspaper “Strana” expressed Director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management Ruslan Bortnik.
“Given that the prosecution opposes the videoconference with Yanukovych in court, and the court went against the will of the prosecution, we can assume that the trial will not be as simple a PR exercise for the prosecutor’s office as expected,” the political scientist predicts. “In addition, Yanukovych, having received the right to speak, can turn the process into a political platform for himself and gradually the trial will be reduced to verbal duels in absentia between two giants of thought - Yuriy Lutsenko and Viktor Yanukovych.”
According to the expert, the Prosecutor General and other high-ranking Ukrainian officials attach very great importance to this process.
“Lutsenko’s prosecutor is one year old and he needs to come to society with something. Not a single corrupt official has been punished, not a single major former official has received a guilty verdict. And there is only one way out for Lutsenko - to force the Yanukovych matter. But our public interest is to see a transparent trial on such an important charge for the country. Of course, the Obolonsky court can make a decision that will be written to it and sent down “from above.” Judges are on the hook and easy to put pressure on. But due to procedural inconsistencies and numerous violations by the prosecution, Yanukovych has a high chance of winning the case against Ukraine in the ECHR, which will deal a colossal blow to the image of our country,” warns Bortnik.
