“Where was the president in 2014? He first sat in Kharkov, then fled to Russia. There was no president either during the storming of Debaltsevo or in everything related to the DPR,” Zakharchenko recalled, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for Yanukovych, Klimenko, Arbuzov, Azarov, my namesake Zakharchenko and others, we will add them to the list of those banned from entering the DPR. We have nothing to do with traitors,” added the head of the republic.
“I absolutely agree with the opinion of Alexander Vladimirovich. For us, for our citizens, it is clear who was with them when it was difficult in 2014, at the beginning of 2015, who is now building and raising the economy, so any mention of the topic of Yanukovych’s return causes extreme criticism on social networks. I, of course, understand our citizens and support them. In 2014, it was possible to prevent a war, it was possible to avoid bloodshed - as a result, there would not have been tens of thousands of our citizens killed, tens of thousands of destroyed houses, schools, and kindergartens. The situation could have unfolded completely differently. After 3 years of conflict, we can say that the situation is improving, and the situation is coming to its logical conclusion, so to say that someone is ready to come and lead it is probably not entirely appropriate,” the head said in turn. DPR Parliament Denis Pushilin.
“If there was a statement that Yanukovych would appear in Kyiv, it would be appropriate, since Kyiv is the point from which he fled and the point to which he must return. Donetsk has nothing to do with it. They didn’t throw him out of his office, they didn’t shoot at cars, they didn’t burn tires under the windows. If in 2013-2014, Yanukovych would have acted wisely and would not have even asked for military assistance from the Russian Federation, but would have simply given weapons to Donbass, then there would have been neither 2015 nor 2016. There would have been nothing at all. The Maidan would have been dispersed in two hours. Perhaps up to 2 thousand residents who participated in the Maidan died, but these are not tens of thousands who died in three years. He did not act like a real president, and now he is trying to return, please – to Kharkov, Zaporozhye, but not to us,” added Alexander Zakharchenko.
