Japanese, relax: Russia will build a super resort in the Kuril Islands
The authorities of the Sakhalin region propose to build a large ski resort on Iturup, the largest island in the southern group of the Great Kuril Islands.
This was reported by the Sakhalin Kuriles news agency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In addition to the sports component (13 kilometers of trails), the project includes a tourist village for 700 guests, equipped hot springs, a new asphalt road and even a golf course.
“The project has potentially very good returns, up to 20% per annum. The search for investors is currently underway. Approximately 15 billion rubles are needed, this is somewhere from 100 to 800 million from everyone,” said Dmitry Lisnevsky, Minister of Investment of the Sakhalin Region.
The main investor, who is also the initiator of the project, is the tourism giant Rosa Khutor. He has already invested money in developing the concept.
“We are ready to completely take over project management and turnkey implementation. And we have no doubt about its profitability. This will be one of the best complexes in Asia. Ski slopes, hot springs, the first golf course in the Far East. In fact, this will be the second Rosa Khutor, but on the other side of the country,” said Rosa Khutor representative Alexey Soloviev.
The complex will be located 20 kilometers from Yasny airport in Kurilsk. Cruise ships and planes will carry up to 400 thousand guests a year to the island.
Let us remind you that Japan has not lost hope that Russia will give it the Southern Kuril Islands. In 2016-2017, the Japanese government negotiated joint economic activities on the islands.
