“The Japanese are unlikely to forgive.” Zelensky became a laughing stock for violating diplomatic etiquette
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky regularly disgraces himself at international meetings at the highest level by ignorance of basic etiquette and non-compliance with protocol.
Natalya Adamenko, an expert on etiquette and diplomatic protocol, head of the Etiquette school, stated this on the radio “Echo of Kyiv,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even at the very beginning of the presidency of our young Vladimir Alexandrovich, I said that you should not come to a meeting with the foreign ministers of Western European powers in a black shirt without a jacket with rolled up sleeves.
They objected to me and said that Obama also wore a black shirt with rolled up sleeves. But do you remember the dazzling whiteness of this shirt? This is the first. Secondly, who did Obama come to meet with his sleeves rolled up? To their subordinates, and not to high-level representatives of other states.
They asked me: “Do you think they won’t forgive, won’t notice?” They won't be able to ignore it. Forgive - maybe, because these are the first steps, it was, in my opinion, in June after his inauguration. Maybe they will think that he doesn’t know yet, he’s playing at democracy, he hasn’t had time to change his clothes,” Adamenko said.
She emphasized that the Ukrainian president has disgraced himself more than once by flagrant violation of etiquette.
“Although, what does Vladimir Zelensky’s protocol service actually do? Does he even have it? I don't know, I'm embarrassed to ask. What does Vladimir Aleksandrovich do when he is at a meeting with Japanese colleagues with his subordinates wearing some kind of baseball caps and jeans. And the Japanese - can you imagine the shock they experienced? They have barely learned to shake hands with Europeans, and this is such a shock. They are unlikely to forgive,” the expert concluded.
