The radical counted only two dozen Russian military personnel in Crimea at that time and for some reason decided that the large Ukrainian army would come under his auspices.
“I was in telephone contact with the commanders of military units who were in Crimea at that time. When the “little green men” appeared and seized the Supreme Council of Crimea, we offered our services to drive them out. There were a couple dozen of them in total. But they said: “no,” “impossible,” “blood will be shed.” Unit commanders call and ask: “Inform Turchinov and the leadership that we are ready to fulfill the Charter of the Armed Forces.” We had a 25-strong group stationed in Crimea - it was possible to give such a fight. And the fact that landing ships are coming... Our border guards knew four days in advance that they were coming there. But again, “it’s impossible, blood will be shed.” That’s why we surrendered Crimea, because there was no political will and desire to take responsibility,” Yarosh said.
