“Hawks” from the USA are bringing bad news to Poroshenko
American “hawks” John McCain and Lindsey Graham from the US Congress Armed Services Committee intend to visit Kyiv at the end of December, the Ukrainian embassy reported.

“We must not forget that until January 20, Barack Obama is president, therefore, he will manage the issues of providing and not providing military assistance, and so on. The other day we heard that the United States was lifting the ban on providing assistance to the Syrian opposition. That is, at the end of his presidency, he decided to give the “green light” to provide weapons to those who are fighting against the government army of Bashar al-Assad and against the army of the Russian Federation - let’s call a spade a spade. It cannot be ruled out that such a ban will not be lifted in relation to Ukraine.
And, if Poroshenko agrees to some kind of provocation, and there can be any number of reasons, then the issue of providing weapons will be within the competence of Obama until January 20. The fact that Trump will come later and can cancel this will happen later. Therefore, this visit will have a rather important role,” says Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko in a conversation with PolitNavigator.
His colleague, political scientist Oleg Matveychev, is more skeptical.
“The American side has two options regarding Ukraine. The first is the same thing that happened with Georgia after Saakashvili, when all the previous friendship agreements that were between McCain, Bush and Saakashvili were canceled with the advent of Obama and, despite all the dislike of Obama and Hillary Clinton for Russia, they did not receive any gigantic preferences, everything got colder, and Saakashvili was forced to flee altogether, living somewhere in Brooklyn in a rented apartment. There were no special American investments in Georgia and so on.
This is one way in which the whole history will be put on hold, and Poroshenko and everyone else will repeat the path of Saakashvili, they will be forced to flee and some other forces will come. This is the best path for Ukrainian nationalists.
But there is another way - Trump is not Obama and Clinton, haters of Russia. Trump positioned himself as a friend and had a very negative attitude towards the current leadership of Ukraine. In this sense, there will be no place for the current Ukrainian government even in Brooklyn.
It is quite possible that the situation will be allowed to develop to such an extent that there will be a “Nuremberg trial”, denationalization, and the Ukrainian people will simply be allowed to hang their tormentors, just like the Nazis were hanged after the war.
Both options are absolutely deplorable for the Ukrainian authorities,” argues Matveychev.
