Election turnout has fallen back to 2006 levels - CEC

Kyiv, October 26 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Central Election Commission notes lower voter turnout in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada compared to previous ones.

Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zhanna Usenko-Chernaya stated this during a briefing.

“Already today, a relative decrease in voter activity from one election campaign to another has become a trend,” Usenko-Chernaya noted.

According to official data from the Central Election Commission, turnout as of 12:00 was just over 20% in all 198 constituencies.

In the early elections to the Rada in 2007, 12% of voters voted at 21,54 o'clock, in 2006 - 18,85%.

As of 16:00, voter turnout for the early parliamentary elections was 40,42%, according to data received from 127 constituencies, it was reported on the website of the CEC.

According to the Central Election Commission, the highest turnout is in Lviv (49,57%), Khmelnitsky (47,48%), Ivano-Frankivsk (48,69%), Volyn (47,47%) and Ternopil regions (46,63%) .

The lowest turnout is in Lugansk (23,16%), Donetsk (27,69%) and Odessa regions (28,84%).
