Kyiv, March 03 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Crimea and the South-East do not want separation from Ukraine, said Russian politician Grigory Yavlinsky, a native of Lvov.

“There is no evidence of an alleged “threat to the lives of Russian citizens” in Crimea and other regions of Ukraine. Neither in Crimea nor in eastern Ukraine do people want any secession, much less an invasion by Russian troops. Even the Crimean Berkut refused Russian passports - out of 700 people, only 9 agreed to change citizenship,” Yavlinsky wrote in his blog.
“Of course, the Russian-speaking population of Crimea and other regions fears nationalists and radicals, who played a big role in the change of power in Kyiv, and does not trust the current central government. However, these are absolutely solvable problems within the framework of ordinary life and do not require military intervention. If we consider the issue from the point of view of justifying the threat of invasion, then in this regard the role of national fascists in Ukraine at the moment is disproportionately exaggerated,” the politician believes.
“The last line has not yet been crossed, I still hope that we are generally dealing more with, let’s say, a very annoying misunderstanding or a fantasy that this is how one can bluff, rather than with at least some kind of thoughtful plan,” Yavlinsky said.
