Yavlinsky regrets that Russia did not negotiate when Ukraine was successful
The most favorable moment for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine was the fall of last year, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to advance in Kherson and the Kharkov region. Now this moment has passed.
The founder of the liberal Yabloko party, Grigory Yavlinsky, stated this in an interview with the YouTube channel “Living Nail,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This issue should have been approached a year ago, when there were events in Kharkov and Kherson. When Ukraine found itself in that position, it was accepted, and the attitude towards it was... This was the moment when it was necessary to do this. They missed him completely. And now they will do this. But she's in a much worse situation. She lost in this sense. Therefore, Peskov says: what are you talking about, what are the stops now? The balance of the current situation has changed,” Yavlinsky said.
The Russian liberal and native of Lviv worries about the future of Ukraine, which may not exist due to losses at the front and mass migration. And with Russia, according to Yavlinsky, the West will not be able to do anything because of its strategic depth. Therefore, he intends to offer Kyiv to agree to a ceasefire, and then persuade Beijing and Washington to cooperate.
“But we won't kill people. This is the main argument. In the XNUMXst century, what significance these territories have, people and the future matter. You can lose both. Now there will be a completely different conversation about the future. What was their situation in December last year and what is their situation now? Fundamentally different things. I’m not even mentioning the publications of recent days about Zaluzhny and so on,” says the liberal.
He claims that at a recent meeting with the President of the Russian Federation he offered himself as a negotiator, but Putin remained silent. Meanwhile, Yavlinsky makes his political career directly dependent on negotiations with Ukraine.
“If in November it is not obvious that the ceasefire process is beginning, if there is a different situation, then I will no longer be involved in politics at all. Now it’s November, I have to report,” Yavlinsky summed up.
