Youtube will be blocked in Russia by autumn – forecast
The American video service YouTube will stop working in Russia this fall.
The famous Russian designer Artemy Lebedev stated this on the Internet channel “Empathy Manuchi,” reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Lebedev, when Russia has its own full-fledged alternative to YouTube, this platform will no longer be needed.
“I'm betting on VK. VK “cuts” its good player, there is already something there, there are time codes, there is a description, there you can watch from the place where you stopped. That is, everything that was missing before is now almost a full-fledged product.
A little more, and it will surpass YouTube. And then it won’t matter at all - you’re looking at the phone. What difference does it make to you what the name of the program through which you watch the video is?
You look at a person, you look at a conversation, you look at those people who are interesting to you. What is the name of the platform you watch them on should not concern you at all.
When YouTube is closed, everyone will switch. I think it will be by the fall, September '23. This is the day of the switch, when YouTube will stop opening without a VPN,” Lebedev said.
Since February 2022, strict censorship has been introduced on YouTube - the video hosting service has, without explanation, removed hundreds of popular Russian channels, the authors of which supported the holding of the SVO in Ukraine.
At the same time, channels with hundreds of thousands or even millions of subscribers were destroyed, as well as video archives that had been collected for several years.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that in Belarus they have learned to trick YouTube censorship.
