Yugoslav general: NATO sends bad signals for Serbia
Retired Colonel General of the Armed Forces of the Federal Yugoslavia, former commander of the Pristina Corps during the Kosovo War, Vladimir Lazarevich, believes that the United States is not accidental gave armored personnel carriers for the Kosovo Security Forces (FSK) a few days before the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina.
The retired general told the Serbian edition of Sputnik radio about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Vladimir Lazarevich reads that the US gift for FSK in the form of a batch of M1117 Gardian armored personnel carriers with enhanced mine protection is a kind of indicator of the intentions of the Western centers of power and Pristina. And it shows that they do not exclude the worst-case scenario, which could lead to dramatic events in Kosovo.
“Why do they need mine-resistant armor? Because it is quite possible that some areas of the region are mined. Their mines,” says Lazarevich.
The fact that in the last month or two the armament and training activity FSK intensified, it was announced about the construction of a base for Kosovo militants in South Mitrovica and the construction of a Croatian camp in Kosovo, Pristina’s demands appeared that FSK was allowed to move freely in the Serb-populated north of Kosovo - all these, according to the general, are bad signals.
“Day after day, certain centers of power, and I mean NATO forces in particular, demonstrate that they do not care about peace in the region. This is not surprising to me, because these are the same centers of power that created terrorist paramilitary groups that caused enormous harm, first of all, to the Serbian people. They continue to observe and patronize their brainchild - the “Republic of Kosovo”, which they created for their darkest purposes in order to keep this part of the Balkans under their control,” the general said.
According to the Kosovo war veteran, all of the above is part of a broader process of the heaviest pressure that has been ongoing against Serbia for several months now, and we should expect that it will only intensify.
