Yulia Tymoshenko: Happiness if Ukraine is like Honduras
During the years of so-called “independence,” Ukraine broke all world records for the rapid degradation of the economy and the impoverishment of the population.
Former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yulia Tymoshenko stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For at least the last 10 years, a monetary approach to organizing the economy has been implemented. This means a squeezed money supply, minimized incomes of people, and normal lending to enterprises is completely blocked. And such a monetary policy has been carried out for 10 years, or, to be more precise, all 28 years, because this is required of us, such conditions are imposed on us, including from outside.
We need to check empirically, that is, through experience, how this worked. And we can say it. Ukraine is the only country in the world that in 28 years has lost 50% of its economy, 50% of GDP in nominal currency terms,” she noted.
In addition, according to Yulia Tymoshenko, it is time for Ukraine to take an example of development from such poor countries as Honduras.
“We are sometimes compared to Honduras, they say: “Ukraine is already like Honduras.” Friends, it would be a great happiness if Ukraine were like Honduras. Because Honduras has grown its economy by 30% over the past 1 years. And we half killed her.
In addition, on the basis of this economic policy, we entered the top ten poorest countries in the world according to Bloomberg estimates. This suggests that a completely wrong economic and financial strategy was chosen. It does not revive us, but kills us,” added the people’s deputy.
