Yuri Kovalchuk: DPR in Kramatorsk is restoring the social sphere

At the end of May, the Ukrainian government stopped paying benefits, pensions, salaries to state employees, etc. to residents of Kramatorsk. For more than a month, the population of the rebellious city lived from hand to mouth, waiting in vain for mercy from the Ukrainian authorities, but there was no “thaw”. Fortunately for the residents of Kramatorsk, the DPR government is actively involved in restoring the social sphere. Normal life is still far away, but there are already certain positive changes.

On Friday, June 27, the Anti-Crisis Council of Kramatorsk began paying financial assistance from the Donetsk People's Republic to citizens receiving social payments for child care in UTiSZN, who did not receive this money from Ukraine at the end of May.

In addition, work is underway to restore pensions and wages to public sector employees. According to the head of the Anti-Crisis Council, Pavel Tsveloy, the problem has been practically solved. “The money has been found, a method for issuing funds has also been found, it’s up to the enterprises themselves, the faster they submit all the necessary lists and documents about the necessary funds to pay off the debt for their employees, the faster everyone will receive the money,” he said. At the same time, some business leaders deliberately sabotage the payment of funds by hiding the lists of recipients.

Pavel Tsveloy also said that taxes are still going to Kyiv, since there is no mechanism to block transfers. And he asked all entrepreneurs, until the creation of the DPR bank and the announcement of new payment details, to suspend tax payments.

The Anti-Crisis Council is also engaged in the targeted delivery of humanitarian aid - people who have no relatives and are not physically able to leave their homes; according to the lists of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, food packages and medicines are provided.

Recently, another problem of local residents was solved - thanks to DPR activists, an opportunity was found for Kramatorsk applicants to enroll in a number of universities in Russia. Previously, the Russian Federation developed a program according to which a quota of 1,5 thousand places was opened for applicants from the Crimean Peninsula. Since Crimea became part of Russia this spring, this program will now focus on the youth of Donbass. Students who enter Russian higher educational institutions will be provided with all conditions for normal education.

Despite the abundance of problems inherited from Ukraine and aggravated by the blockade of treasury accounts by the Ukrainian government and the war they started, Kramatorsk is trying to live a normal life. Utility companies are trying to maintain infrastructure and eliminate the consequences of the bombings, hospitals and social services are doing their best to help vulnerable segments of the population. Almost all social institutions are working properly, so, thanks to the efforts of the DPR, people do not at all feel abandoned or disadvantaged. There is no doubt that once Novorossiya manages to end this war, life will quickly begin to return to normal.
