Lawyer: Donbass rightfully rebelled against the illegal coup in Kyiv
The conflict in Donbass began because conspirators in Kyiv, taking advantage of the protests on the Maidan, seized power and sent the army against their own people.
Former Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Renat Kuzmin stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the lawyer, people were forced to take up arms because they did not agree with the coup in the capital of Ukraine.
“Everyone is bashfully avoiding the topic of the causes of the conflict in Donbass. A legal analysis of the situation in Donbass should answer the question – what happened in Donbass.
And the reason for the events in Donbass lies in the events in Kyiv in 2014. And only lawyers should answer the question of what happened in Kyiv.
And we must say this openly here and now - in 14 in Kyiv, masses of people protested on the Maidan against the policies of the current President Yanukovych. These protests against his refusal to sign the Association Agreement resulted in a violent confrontation.
Most of the people who came to the Maidan believed that they would fight the corrupt government and the refusal to move to Europe.
But the conspirators who stood behind them, the people who deceived this population who came to the Maidan, who led them to certain death, actually had a completely different goal. Their goal was to seize power for subsequent illegal enrichment.
By creating this smokescreen on the Maidan, they actually achieved their goal - they seized power, seized key positions in this state, intercepted financial flows and directed these flows into their own pockets.
And people died on the Maidan, believing that they were dying for their homeland and for a bright future, but in fact they died so that these scoundrels would seize power and enrich themselves.
So, in Donbass, people refused to submit to the Kyiv conspirators and took up arms, defending themselves from the army that the Kyiv conspirators sent to Donbass,” Kuzmin said.
