Gas supplies to Ukraine will begin only after Naftogaz signs a new agreement with Gazprom, since the decisions of the Stockholm arbitration have upset the balance in relations between the two companies.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Company Alexander Medvedev stated this at a press conference in St. Petersburg.
“Deliveries have not started. In order for them to begin, an additional agreement must be signed. The Ukrainian side insisted on this primarily. There is documentary evidence. During the time between the two arbitral awards, certain events occurred that destroyed the balance. Without its restoration, it is impossible to restore supplies,” Medvedev said.
Gazprom lawyer Sergei Kuznets explained that the Russian company was not satisfied with the decisions of the Stockholm Arbitration Court.
“The court intervened in our relationship unsuccessfully. The parties held a series of negotiations, where Gazprom outlined its demands, but the Ukrainian side rejected them. “Gazprom has filed a new claim with arbitration, in which it asks either to restore the balance or to cancel the contracts as no longer consistent with our relations,” Medvedev said.
