Lawyer Craft called on Smolny to urgently correct the situation with poor snow removal in St. Petersburg
Since the end of November last year, poor-quality snow removal in the Northern capital has once again become a systemic problem that worries residents of the metropolis, including well-known St. Petersburg residents.
Lawyer Ilya Remeslo in his Telegram-channel called the situation on the roads not cleared by public utilities terrible and called on officials from the city administration to “urgently correct the situation.”
“The situation with road cleaning in St. Petersburg is simply terrible. Continuous accidents, skids (for the first time in 20 years of driving I got into a skid). The city leadership must urgently correct the situation. This is not the case,” Craft wrote.
Let us recall that in October, Governor Alexander Beglov reported that St. Petersburg was fully prepared for winter. In Smolny they said that they would deploy more than 1700 snow removal vehicles to clean the streets in case of heavy rainfall, but things did not go further than promises - only a small part of the available special equipment took part in the fight against the consequences of snow cyclones. Residents of the Northern capital have repeatedly complained on social networks and on the city administration website about the poor work of public utilities, but the Improvement Committee did not respond to citizens’ requests.
On Sunday, January 9, in St. Petersburg there were dozens of car accidents and road accidents on snow-covered and icy roads. In the Nevsky district, at the intersection of Oktyabrskaya embankment and Krylenko street, four vehicles collided on both lanes.
