Lawyer: Zelensky and Poroshenko were lucky with pretexts for plundering the country
Thanks to the fact that Ukraine has been living in a state of either war or pandemic since 2014, it is easier for the authorities to justify unpopular steps and hide the theft of the budget.
Former Minister of Justice of Ukraine Elena Lukash stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The post-Maidan authorities are lucky - they have such excellent easy, and most importantly, impossible to verify opportunities to steal. At first, some people looted during the war, an incredible budget went there and, try asking where it went. Why are you watching our parade under Poroshenko - and everything there is freshly painted Soviet. Why do cadets die falling on some kind of flying pelvis, while billions were rushing around there?
And then you look at journalists’ investigations about all sorts of “optimum special parts,” and it turns out that only factories strangely connected with Poroshenko and his people were enriched. We called them “marauders of war” back then, and now this government is even luckier – “marauders of quarantine.” Fear, shock, horror, the inability to check the expenditure of budget funds, the complete theft of reserve fund reserves, and silence - try to say something.
And the most important thing is that any mistake can be attributed to this. Why is the educational program in such a state? Well, not before that, we are dealing with the coronavirus. Why wasn't the medical reform canceled? Not yet, we are dealing with the coronavirus. Why the law on decommunization, why don’t we build anything, why do we borrow all the time, why do they give us pennies and we give the whole country for it, we just give the whole country.
Imagine how lucky Zelensky is with the land market. If there had been no coronavirus and this shock, would he have been able to push through this decision for many hours at night, wearing masks and listening to the screams of deputies outraged by the procedures and completely ignoring the regulations? And before that, add a decision on banks? And now foreigners and oligarchs can easily take the land, banks are under control, a special relevant law has been voted on. In normal, sane years, would it have been possible to do to the country what Poroshenko and now Zelensky did? It wouldn't work, they're lucky. But for us, not so much,” said Lukash.
