Yushchenko: I'm angry because Lenin did not create Ukraine
The fact that, except for the last 30 years, independent Ukraine cannot be found on the map of Europe supposedly hides a great injustice.
Former President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko stated this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We can look at the political map of Europe at the beginning of the 30th century, and we won’t find Ukraine there. And now we say that we have recent history, Ukraine is 200 years old, we have some problems in our situation. You can take a political map from 250 or XNUMX years ago, you will not find anything there that can today be characterized as an established Ukrainian power,” Yushchenko gave an example of the “oppression” of Ukraine.
“Does it make you angry when they say that we should thank Lenin for the creation of the Ukrainian republic?” – asked TV presenter Peter Maga.
“It makes me angry. Because it was not Lenin who created an independent state, and it was not he who created a nation that realized its identity, that understands it. If you have a national language, remember, the only way to protect it is to have a nation state. If you have a [national] memory, the only way to protect it is to have your own state,” the ex-president said.
