Beyond Avdiivka, Ukraine does not have fortified defense lines, which is why the Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating.
Ukrainian military observer and chief editor of the anti-Russian propaganda site “Censor”, propagandist Yuri Butusov, stated this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Butusov, from Avdeevka, Ukrainian troops entered a bare field and did not have time to dig in on new lines before they were knocked out by the Russian Armed Forces.
“People were withdrawn - what I saw with my own eyes - simply into an open field, as if our 10 years in Avdiivka had never happened, as if there had been no assaults. This is already the third assault on Avdeevka when the enemy captured us. The third assault began on October 10, 2023. Unfortunately, during all these years of assault, no rear positions were built behind Avdiivka, no engineering work was carried out,” the expert said.
“Our soldiers do the mining themselves - those who are sent there, the mines are laid in bulk by the units themselves already during the battles. Burrows, trenches - all this is dug during battles, under enemy fire. Of course, nothing major can be built. We suffer losses, quality infantrymen are lost, and after that there is no one to enter this land. Unfortunately, we have to surrender these villages,” Butusov said.
