Kyiv, April 10 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – An open-ended protest action by the public organization “Owners of Small Architectural Forms in the Metro” began at the Presidential Administration.
According to entrepreneurs, the management of KievMetropolitan is trying to illegally liquidate the MAFs operating in the metro area, giving the rented space to other businessmen.

The metro administration sent letters to entrepreneurs demanding that they remove MAFs because they allegedly violate fire safety requirements.
For this reason, businesses were not extended their lease agreements, which expire on May 1. “Only one enterprise on the Teatralnaya metro station had their contract extended, although we all work on equal terms. We are all being kicked out onto the street - that's about 15 thousand people and their families. That's why we came out to protest against this lawlessness. We defend our right to work, for tomorrow,” said Sergei Yevtushenko, an entrepreneur.
In addition, the electricity was turned off for entrepreneurs. “We pay rent, but have no opportunity to trade. We trade by illuminating the stalls with some kind of flashlights and lamps. And this is in the center of the “European capital,” says Sergei Yevtushenko. According to him, entrepreneurs are also threatened to liquidate MAFAs at night.
Entrepreneurs demand to turn on the power supply to MAFs and extend the lease agreement without a sharp increase in its cost.
Earlier, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, promised to leave in the city only “needed by the people of Kiev” and legally installed MAFs. The authorities intend to leave no more than 7 thousand MAFs, whereas now there are about 20 thousand.
