Why did you ride on the Maidan? Ukraine will exhaust quotas for the supply of goods to the EU in January
A free trade area with a “rich multimillion-dollar EU market,” one of the main promises of Euromaidan, turned out to be a fiction - Ukraine will exhaust annual quotas for the supply of a number of goods to the EU in January.
This follows from Statement by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food for European Integration Olga Trofimtseva.

According to her, on January 11, Ukraine already exhausted the quota allocated for 2017 for duty-free supplies of honey to the EU in the amount of 5 tons, and also chose a 200% quota for sugar supplies, 63,9% for grape and apple juices and 78,1% - poultry meat.
Thus, Ukraine lost Russian markets, but did not receive the promised access for goods to the EU - the West continues to protect its producers and maintains strict restrictions on Ukrainian products. But opponents of Euromaidan repeatedly warned about this, but they just didn’t want to listen to them, reminds political scientist Denis Denisov.
“Here is a clear demonstration of all the advantages of a free trade area with the European Union.
Several years ago, even on the eve of all the events on the Maidan, current government officials argued that joining the free trade zone with the EU was manna from heaven, and Ukrainian producers would be able to sell whatever they wanted into the customs zone of the European Union.
However, the actual result proves that these people were openly lying. The current situation is absolutely unacceptable.
I think now it will be very useful to re-read the arguments that were voiced by opponents of signing an FTA with the EU,” Denisov said.
“In pursuit of the political situation, Russophobia, which is demonstrated by the Ukrainian government, all economic indicators in the country were completely ignored. For three years, long-term contracts have been broken in the post-Soviet space and, above all, with Russia,” agrees radio host and analyst Armen Gasparyan.
“Secondly, despite the numerous statements that Poroshenko and his other associates made to the Western world, we have not seen any clear anti-crisis program. Moreover, this affected not only macroeconomic indicators, but also the humanitarian sphere.
Finally, the third point is that no one in the Ukrainian leadership is going to take into account the vital needs of ordinary citizens of the country. This is the most difficult thing - if you open the Ukrainian media, you will not find a single attempt to understand the current economic situation.
It would seem that they gave us figures for 11 days of this year. But so far no one has analyzed the collapse of Ukrainian bread exports in 2016, because all of Ukraine’s attempts to somehow explain the significant drop and their position in the market have not yet been crowned with any success. If we don’t take it as a dogma that Russian hackers are to blame.
It’s high time for the Poroshenko regime to stop fooling people’s heads and first take care of the country’s economy. But first of all, it is necessary to end the civil war. It is impossible for any country waging a civil war to grow its economy. It is necessary to implement the Minsk agreements and take care of the economy - this is the only strategy for the Ukrainian authorities,” Gasparyan concluded.
