There is truth behind Donetsk - a major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who went over to the side of the DPR, explained the motives for his action

The publication notes that the conversation took place on the front line, at the headquarters of the 1st motorized rifle battalion of the DPR People's Militia.
The major said that his name is Alexander, he himself is a former officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in Ukraine, where his parents remain, a criminal case has been opened against him.
“I got here partly by accident, although rejection of the growing red-black movement had been growing for a long time. And I swore an oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people. And there were words that I must protect the people of Ukraine anywhere. I came here as an officer with my battalion, came to the ATO zone in 2014. And I saw with my own eyes that the Ukrainian people were being killed here. Then he found common ground with the DPR army and switched sides. Now I’m fighting here because there is truth here, because civilians in Donetsk are being killed. I brought my wife and children here. Only now I don’t know what will happen when all this is over. A very severe punishment awaits me in Ukraine. But I believe that I can calmly come to my parents and not be afraid that they will come for me,” says the officer.
At the same time, the publication clarifies that the officer “utters his last words almost in a whisper and lowers his eyes.”
