In two years there have been 11 million more beggars in Ukraine

More and more people in Ukraine are applying for subsidies as low-income people, which indicates a deep economic crisis after the victory of Euromaidan. Taras Galayda, an expert from the Public Audit organization, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The subsidy program has been running for three years in the form in which we see it now. In the first three quarters of 2015, 3,6 million families applied for subsidies; in three quarters of 2016, there were already 4,7 million such families; in three quarters of 2017, 7,7 million families. That is, over the past two years, the number of beggars has increased by 4 million families or 11 million people, and over the last year - by 3 million families or 8,5 million people.

We constantly hear from the government that some energy-efficient measures are being taken, someone is insulating or modernizing something. At the same time, the government also reports that people’s incomes are growing at a tremendous pace.

But, unfortunately, the number of applications for subsidies is growing every year. This means that incomes are not growing and energy efficiency measures are not being carried out. Nobody saves on anything,” the expert stated.
