In the year since the signing of the association agreement with the EU, Ukraine has become one of the poorest countries in the world, stated former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.

“Ukraine is rapidly rolling back. In just a year, after the signing of the association agreement with the EU, Ukraine’s standard of living fell back to the level of the poorest countries in the world. So there is something to celebrate. A world anti-record has been set. If at the same time they announce a default, then the holiday will be complete,” the politician believes.
Azarov notes that the tariff increase initiated by the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk had no basis.
“The regime has increased tariffs for the population 4 (!) times and continues to argue that this does not cover costs. I can safely say that there is not enough for expenses, but for theft on an especially large scale. At the end of 2013, when we agreed with Russia on a gas price of approximately $280, we calculated that Naftogaz would break even at this price, and there was no need to increase gas tariffs for the population and there would be no need at all,” – says the former head of government.
