Kyiv, May 31 (Navigator, Evgeniy Andreev) – The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has established active cooperation with European law enforcement officers on the issue of freezing the assets of Viktor Yanukovych and representatives of his regime.

The acting director announced this on Channel 5. Prosecutor General Oleg Makhnitsky.
“On the territory of Ukraine, we have completely seized the property of the Yanukovych family, and also seized an amount of about one and a half billion hryvnia. In addition, very significant sums, very significant assets that are located abroad have been seized, but today I do not have the right to announce these figures, but these figures are very high,” noted the acting. “When will we see that this money will start returning to Ukraine? Is this a long process?” asked the presenter.
“This process depends on what evidence we provide to our foreign partners. They have national legislation that regulates this issue,” answered Oleg Makhnitsky.
According to him, on Thursday a group of investigators returned from the EU mission in Brussels, having discussed with European investigative authorities “the issue of further freezing the assets of persons, the list of which we have transferred to our partners.”
