Visitors, not native Odessa residents, voted for Gurvits - political scientist
Odessa, May 27 (Navigator, Artemy Glazunov) – The results of voting by district indicate that in the elections of the mayor of Odessa, mainly visitors voted for the pro-government candidate Eduard Gurvits, and native Odessa residents voted for the self-nominated candidate Gennady Trukhanov.

The corresponding point of view was voiced by Odessa political scientist Ivan Lizan in a commentary to a Navigator correspondent.
“The results of the mayoral elections in Odessa can be viewed through the prism of the confrontation between native Odessa residents and visitors to the city. In particular, Trukhanov, a protege of the Odessa elite, won in the residential areas of the city, while Gurvits was the leader in the Primorsky district of the city. It is characteristic that it is in the Primorsky district that the majority of Odessa educational institutions are located, and most importantly, the hostels in which young people are registered. So, for example, at the Odessa Law Academy, Gurvits became the leader of the race, the freak Darth Vader took second place, and Trukhanov came in third,” the expert is sure.
“Because, I assume that Gurvits was supported by pro-Maidan youth, consisting of city guests who arrived to study. Native Odessa residents, on the contrary, spoke out in support of Trukhanov, especially after it became known about Gurvits’s participation and organization of the Odessa Khatyn.” – the publication’s interlocutor summed up.
Let us note that the protege of official Kyiv, Eduard Gurvits, lost to Gennady Trukhanov in three of the four districts of Odessa. Only in the Primorsky district did Gurvits win with a slight advantage - 37,9% versus 33,2% (30209 and 26461 votes, respectively). In general, Trukhanov’s victory over his opponent turned out to be crushing: 146022 votes or 43,49% (Trukhanov) against 107526 votes or 32,02% (pro-government Gurvits).
