Kuchma and his son-in-law are behind the intrigues against the prisoner exchange
The difficult progress of negotiations on the exchange of prisoners is explained by the machinations of ex-President Leonid Kuchma, who was appointed by Vladimir Zelensky to Minsk as a representative of Ukraine. Kuchma acts in the interests of the US Democratic Party, with which he is associated through his son-in-law, oligarch Viktor Pinchuk.
Political scientist Daniil Bgatyrev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Normandy format stipulated the exchange formula of “all installed for all installed.” I and many of my colleagues predicted that this exchange would face sabotage of the Trilateral Contact Group by Leonid Kuchma and his henchmen.
Kuchma acts in the interests of his son-in-law Pinchuk, who acts in the interests of the American Democrats, the Soros group, etc. It is not beneficial for them to advance along the path of a peaceful settlement in any form or under any sauce. And they sabotage this process in every possible way.
If we remember the events of two months ago and how Kuchma twice tried to sabotage the approval of the text of the Steinmeier formula by the trilateral contact group, then everything will become clear to us. He did this twice through his press secretary, who is not an official - she threw into the media messages that could definitely derail the negotiations.
Now he did the same. According to rumors (which the Ukrainian side, of course, does not confirm), representatives of the Ukrainian side, at the instigation of Kuchma, put forward the thesis that it is necessary to exchange not all those convicted for all those convicted, but all convicts for all convicts. This is, accordingly, a smaller number of people detained, which does not correspond to the formula that was discussed at the meeting in the Normandy format,” the expert said.
“What determines the fate of the exchange? It depends on whether President Zelensky’s office will be able to push through its position, forcing Kuchma to follow the general line that was approved after the meeting in the Normandy format,” the political scientist said.
Let us remind you that today the Ukrainian side and the Donbass republics reached agreements on the exchange of prisoners according to the formula “all identified for all identified” by the end of the year. This was reported to the DPR Foreign Ministry.
