“Navigator”: How did Russian nationalists in the Russian Federation react to reunification with Crimea?

Vladimir Basmanov: I would like to note right away that I will speak for Russian nationalists, but not patriots of the Russian Federation. In the Russian Federation today, these concepts are divided, since the interests of the nation and the existing state often do not coincide.

On the one hand, many nationalists welcomed the will of the majority of Crimean residents, which is to separate from Ukraine. If the people of Kiev can do what they want, then why can’t the people of Crimea? The residents of Crimea have been waiting for 20 years and have already despaired of believing that this is possible. When in 1994 Meshkov refused to accept the offer of Russian nationalists, ready for radical action, and with the support of the Black Sea Fleet to become a real, and not a fake, president of the new state, it seemed that Crimea would forever remain with Ukraine. But then the moment came and thanks to the Maidan (which, unfortunately, many do not understand, although it was initially clear to smart people that Yanukovych’s thieves’ power would fall, and some successfully prepared for this) the tenacious ties of Ukrainian statehood ceased to hold Crimea, and it I was able to make the choice I wanted.

On the other hand, all honest nationalists in Russia understand that the Russian people have been deprived of their statehood since 1917. The Russian Federation is the legal successor of the USSR and is not today a state that reflects the interests of the Russian people (which has been repeatedly stated by official representatives of the Russian Federation, and which is recorded in the Constitution of the Russian Federation, in which the word “Russian” is never mentioned). The Russian Federation occupies the territory of enslaved Russia, the Motherland of the Russians. The leader of this country - Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin - the heir of Boris Nikolaevich Yeltsin, and his clique - are guilty of the ethnocide of the Russian people, the establishment of an anti-Russian state on Russian territory, which deprived Russians of political and social rights. And even if, guided by the interests of Gazprom and his own political benefit, Putin accidentally helps Russians somewhere in the world in some way, this fact cannot be recognized as exonerating and abolishing the guilt of the Putin regime before our people.

Therefore, based on the above, the overwhelming majority of Russian nationalists recognize and welcome the right of the residents of Crimea to make a decision. But then the opinion is divided:

Some nationalists believe that it is good that Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, even if it is an analogue of the USSR, because they believe that the government will change, but Crimea will remain. These people believe that the problem of the Russian Federation is not in the state, but in the government, which only needs to be changed. And the Crimeans will “endure” the problems that exist in the Russian Federation. If we draw analogies, such nationalists believe that the USSR is, in principle, a normal state if Stalin leaves and “Finland remains.”

Others, including, for example, myself, regret that Crimea did not become an independent state, albeit with the support of the Russian Federation. Until the Russian Federation is replaced by the Russian National State. If this happened, then in Crimea there would be relatively free elections, freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, referendums, free media, there would be no repression for any dissent, and an authoritarian dictatorship, the rule of thieves who cannot be replaced, and persecution for Russian nationalism, for the desire to preserve their national identity (instead of the imposed identity of “Russians”, an analogue of the Soviet people), political prisoners in large numbers, hordes of migrants from Asia and Transcaucasia. And yes, for criticizing the Crimean Tatars, there will now be a prison sentence, as is the case in the Russian Federation.

There are others, which are smaller, but they exist. Who believe that any problems of the Ukrainian revolution strengthen Putin’s power in the Russian Federation in every sense, and, therefore, continue the years of existence of the anti-Russian thieves’ regime of the Russian Federation, under which Russians are dying like flies, and millions of migrants are imported to replace them. They believe that the interests of Russians in Russia are more important than the desires of Russians in Crimea. If there is a Russian national Russia, then it will be great with Russians everywhere in the world. If the Russians of Russia die, neither Crimea nor anything else is important. Such people even go to Ukraine to join the Ukrainian nationalists, and believe that Ukraine can be a rear base for launching the struggle for the liberation of Russia. As you know, during the storming of the Patriot of Ukraine office, there were Russians from Russia on the side of the Ukrainians.

“Navigator”: What tasks do they now see before the Russian movement in Sevastopol and Crimea?

Vladimir Basmanov:It is necessary to create primary structures of Russian nationalist organizations. Separate from Russian Ukrainians, since the tasks are now completely different. And, in general, those few national Russian organizations that still survive in Russia are thinking about this, and some are taking action.

This is the first and urgent task. It is necessary to organize, before the authorities and intelligence services of the Russian Federation suppress any local initiatives, we must take advantage of this.

In every district of the city, in every village, it is necessary to create cells of Russian nationalists.

A sign of the ideology of Russian nationalists in Crimea that distinguishes them from others, including all kinds of “record patriots” may be:

– uncompromising ethnic nationalism, which, as you know, is a consideration of everything through the prism of national interests (not to be confused with state interests)

– the desire for social justice not in words, but in deeds

– commitment to the ideas of real democracy and maximum self-government, civil control

– an unambiguous assessment of the existing regime in the Russian Federation as anti-people

– an unambiguous assessment of the communist regime as anti-Russian

– refusal to cooperate with everyone who has stained themselves with theft and any anti-national actions

The next task after self-organization is widespread propaganda of one’s views, goals and objectives.

And then, as forces grow sufficiently, participation in local elections is widespread throughout the region.

For example, our organization, “Russian Association,” is ready to help local organizers and enthusiasts of a just cause in any way it can, ready to help as pockets of Russian national revival appear in Crimea. We understand the importance of the Russian cause in Crimea, and would not want the “multinational Russian Federation” to crush the sprouts of Russian national consciousness there as they emerge, or to distort them into hypocritical, deceptive officialdom.

All nationalists from Russia have approximately the same idea of what needs to be done there. The difference can only be in the level of radicalism and courage in expressing opposition views and attitude towards the period of the USSR.

And if briefly and symbolically, then it is necessary to erect monuments to Wrangel instead of monuments to Lenin. If the local residents manage to explain this, and then implement it, then, consider, Crimea will become Russian, even contrary to the plans of the Russian “multinationals”.

This is all very difficult. But the one who walks will master the road.
