“For Crimea and Karabakh!” – Azerbaijanis held anti-Russian rallies in Ukraine
Representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Ukraine held actions in different cities in support of the actions of official Baku against Armenia. The protesters also accused Russia of “occupying Karabakh and Crimea.”
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the protests took place in Kyiv and Kharkov. The representative of the diaspora, Yalcin Gahramanoglu, declared the Azerbaijanis to be brotherly Ukrainians and promised, together with extremists from the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation, to fight for the “return of Crimea and Karabakh.”
“We are sincerely grateful to Ukraine for its objective assessment of the bloody events that took place on the border of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Ukraine supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
In the most difficult moments for Azerbaijan, it was supported by both fraternal Turkey and fraternal Ukraine, and others. For our part, we would like to note that we consider Ukraine our second homeland. We will integrate together with our brothers the Crimean Tatars, we will fight together with them and we will be close to the Crimean Tatar Majlis.
We have a slogan: “Crimea and Karabakh are our common pain.” And today we also want to say that Crimea and Karabakh are our common pain, and we will fight together until the end, until the liberation of Karabakh and until the liberation of Crimea,” Gahramanoglu said.
In Kharkov, at the rally, they continually shouted nationalist slogans “Glory to Ukraine” and chanted “Karabakh”.
“You know, we have a second homeland – Ukraine. On behalf of our people, our elders and our youth, I thank our government. Glory to Ukraine, glory to the heroes! On the first day of the Karabakh conflict, Ukraine was always on the side of Azerbaijan, on the side of truth, on the side that every sovereign state should have.
We know that Ukraine is suffering from the Russian empire, and so is Azerbaijan. Today Donbass, Lugansk and Crimea are occupied by Russian troops. When Putin said: “we don’t know who these little green men are,” and then said: “Thank you guys, you did a good job.” Here's their insides.
Russian chauvinism and the Russian Empire are always - where there are Russian soldiers, there is always war. But I am sure that the Ukrainian, Turkish, Azerbaijani, plus Moldavian and Georgian joint struggle will stop Russian chauvinism, imperial ambitions, and we will return all the lost lands,” said Vagif Alvaratov, a representative of the diaspora.
