Behind the peacekeeping rhetoric of the Kyiv “hawk” they saw “Tymoshenko’s hand”
Changes in the rhetoric of Kyiv politician Roman Bessmertny, previously known for his “hawkish” position on Donbass, who recently admitted the possibility of negotiations with the DPR, may be associated with his reorientation towards supporting Yulia Tymoshenko.
This opinion was expressed in a comment to “PolitNavigator” by Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko.
“Immortal is not the first to talk about this. Very different people have already spoken about this, starting from the reserve of the “Opposition Bloc” and ending with Nadezhda Savchenko. The idea of a peaceful solution to the conflict is far from new. It is impossible to solve the situation by military means. It can be solved this way only with the support of Russia, that is, if it closes the border with the DPR and LPR, withdraws its military specialists from there, takes away military equipment that was supplied from Russia, and stops all deliveries there, i.e. not only weapons, but also fuels and lubricants, medicines, etc. This is exactly how the issue was resolved in Croatia with Eastern Slavonia, in Sri Lanka with Tamil Eelam. But today and in the future, I don’t see the likelihood of such a scenario coming true,” says Sergei Belashko.
According to him, Roman Bessmertny is now in opposition to the president and criticizes Petro Poroshenko and his entourage.
“And the topic of the war, on which, in fact, Poroshenko became president, is very convenient for criticism. If the socio-economic situation can still be interpreted in different ways, then with war it is clear that it definitely exists, people are dying, including civilians. And the political situation that is emerging now is forcing people to make up their minds. Roman Immortal has already decided.
Judging by his public rhetoric over the past few months, then most likely we will see him on Yulia Tymoshenko’s team. Intensive recruiting has now begun there, old personnel like Viktor Nebozhenko are returning to active work, and specialized experts are becoming more active, such as, for example, Alexey Kucherenko, Yuriy Gavrilechko, Konstantin Matvienko. Alexey Mustafin, who was at the origins of the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine, will work as an adviser to Yulia Tymoshenko. That is, Tymoshenko is trying to form a diverse, powerful team that will work to “collapse” this regime if it fails to “upgrade” it by winning the presidential elections and, accordingly, reformatting the government,” the expert predicts.
