Advisor to the head of the SBU Yuri Tandit, who is involved in the exchange of prisoners, spoke about this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Focus. He said that one day people living in the territory of Donbass not controlled by Kyiv came to him with a request to help find their missing son.
“It turned out that the guy was driving across the demarcation line, and one of our volunteer battalions that was standing there asked all the men to get off the bus and shout “Glory to Ukraine!” or something similar,” says the adviser to the head of the SBU. – This 20-year-old guy refused, maybe his young blood jumped out. He was detained as a separatist, he was put on trial, the Ukrainian court released him, but the investigator decided to keep him and re-educate him into a Ukrainian patriot. I found this investigator, explained that the guy was still too young, did not understand anything, he was released and handed over to his parents. For them, this was also a big sign that we are not fascists or fanatics here.”
Yuri Tandit does not say whether the fighters who detained the guy or the investigator were punished.
