Goncharuk will answer for Zelensky’s crimes before the country on the eve of elections – expert
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will not rush to dissolve the Cabinet of Ministers and fire Prime Minister Alexei Goncharuk, as he plans to hold him responsible for all unpopular reforms, such as opening the land market or raising the retirement age.
Ukrainian political scientist Kirill Molchanov stated this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After a series of statements by the President of Ukraine, Goncharuk’s resignation will look very illogical, if not careless, in the next few weeks.
Because the president de facto gave him carte blanche, he took responsibility for Goncharuk when he gave him a second chance at the meeting after the “tapes”, and, secondly, he recently said in an interview with an Israeli publication that Goncharuk’s government - It’s like a new car that has not yet reached its service life.
All this clearly indicates that there is definitely no point in talking about some kind of high-profile resignation of the entire cabinet. Moreover, it will even look ridiculous and ill-considered,” the expert reflects.
“This is not because Zelensky really likes Goncharuk or he wouldn’t want to move him, but simply for the reason that he did not do all the rough and dirty work that was assigned to his office,” Molchanov emphasized.
According to him, before personnel decisions are made, it is necessary for the government to push through things that are unpopular in society.
“This is the opening of the land market, this is the privatization of strategic objects, this is the labor code, raising the retirement age, this is further fiscal strangulation of business.
Now, when all these things are adopted in conjunction with parliament, then there will be some logic to hang all the dogs on Goncharuk, to try to channel all the negativity onto him as much as possible.
According to political logic, this can be done somewhere by September, so that – just after the resignation or change of cabinet – it will be possible to go with a renewed team to local elections,” added Molchanov.
