For Protasevich - economic blockade of Minsk! – fugitive zmagars picket the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
Belomaid members who fled from Belarus staged a protest in Kyiv near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs against the detention of the compiler of the Nekhta telegram channel Roman Protasevich, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Several dozen people took part in the event. They gathered under the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, demanding that the Ukrainian authorities “react decisively” to detention of Roman Protasevich in Minsk – one of the founders of the Polish telegram channel “Nechta”, which coordinated the riots in Belarus last year.
“One of the first who should protest against the detention of Roman Protasevich and apply real levers of pressure, not only diplomatic ones, is the Ukrainian government. Because Ukraine has been at war with the Russian Federation for seven years and constantly appeals to the international community and democratic governments.
Ukraine is asking for support, and this is a test, including for the Ukrainian government, whether they are able to provide the same support when citizens of a neighboring state need it,” said one of the rally participants.
Speakers at the rally accused the Ukrainian government of not reacting to the detention. They called on Ukraine to refuse electricity and goods produced in Belarus, arguing that the proceeds go to finance government agencies in Belarus.
Let us recall that previously Russian liberals, especially the fugitive Navalnists reacted painfully for the detention of the founder of the Polish telegram channel “Nechta” at Minsk airport.
Also yesterday, who fled from Belarus Belomaidan supporter detained while throwing feces near the Belarusian embassy in Kyiv.
