For lifting the water blockade of Crimea, a Russian general received a prison term in Ukraine
A trial was held in Ukraine, where the deputy commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet for logistics, Major General Mikhail Yasnikov, and the commander of the 12th separate engineering brigade, Colonel Dmitry Markov, received 11 years in absentia.
The SBU press service reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The security service has collected evidence on two more commanders of Russian troops who are involved in the destruction of key life support facilities in the Kherson region. We are talking about the deputy commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet for logistics, Major General Mikhail Yasnikov, and the commander of the 11th separate engineering brigade, Colonel Dmitry Markov.
Both officials directly commanded the seizure of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station and the undermining of the buildings of the North Crimean Canal. According to the investigation, it was Yasnikov who gave the order for the illegal seizure of critical infrastructure, and Markov led the explosions,” the report says.
According to the SBU, this kind of action “disturbed the water supply of the region, the functioning of its irrigation system, and also caused significant damage to the environment and material damage to Ukraine on a particularly large scale.”
As a result, the court found both officers guilty under Part 2 of Art. 28, part 1 art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war) and sentenced each of them to 12 years in prison.
