This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “New Time” by Alexander Fatsevich, head of the Ukrainian patrol police, ex-commander of the Svityaz volunteer battalion, one of the units that left Uglegorsk during the winter campaign.
“In three months, 10.000 accidents occurred in Kyiv,” he said. – Compared to last year, an increase of 30%. This is due to the fact that every year the number of vehicles in our country is constantly increasing. And recently it has especially increased - due to events in the east of the country and in Crimea. Many immigrants came to Kyiv. Therefore, I do not think that the number of accidents has increased due to the patrol’s shortcomings.”
It is worth noting that, according to the Department of Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in the first two months of work, employees of the Kyiv police alone ended up in 24 traffic police stations. Moreover, most of the accidents occurred due to the fault of police officers.
