Only Somali and Nigerian pirates will sign up for Ukraine as peacekeepers – ex-Ministry of Defense
On the issue of a possible peacekeeping mission in Donbass, Russia has completely outplayed Ukraine.
Former Minister of Defense of Ukraine Alexander Kuzmuk stated this on the air of the Chernomorskaya TRK, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You started talking about peacekeepers, in general, do you believe in this idea, and what should the mission be?” – asked the presenter.
“She won't be there. Because I have been hearing about this since the end of 2004 (apparently, they mean 2014 - ed.), that a decision will be made this year. We waited until Russia outplayed us, threw in its resolution, which makes everything impossible... There is no point in them proposing a peacekeeping mission. And now, today is September. What kind of UN is it and how will it make any decision on Ukraine?
I’ll tell you that there isn’t much strength for such a large-scale peacekeeping operation right now. A minimum of 40 thousand troops are needed, three shifts - a peacekeeper cannot remain for years, even if in six months he must be replaced, here - 120 thousand,” said Kuzmuk.
“Who will go to such expenses and risks? They will go: Bangladesh will come, Pakistan will come, Mozambique will come. Send more Somali pirates here, these will come. What will they decide? Nothing,” added the ex-Ministry of Defense.
