Strikes are already causing damage to Belarusian enterprises – economist
Striking enterprises in Belarus will inevitably suffer serious damage from the strike itself and will most likely close with the change of regime in the country.
President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center Alexander Okhrimenko told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“Revolution always hits the economy. In Belarus, a number of large enterprises have now begun to go on strike. People simply don’t think how it will all end, they don’t think about the future.
Firstly, they most likely will not be paid for the time of the strike. Regardless of whether Lukashenko leaves or stays, the strike itself will cause great damage to the economy of these enterprises. It will be necessary to take some emergency measures to prevent their bankruptcy.
And if Lukashenko is really overthrown, then, most likely, these enterprises will not work at all. It will be like what happened with many Ukrainian enterprises after the Maidan. Belarusian state-owned enterprises operated largely thanks to subsidies. These subsidies will end. Enterprises will simply close,” the economist predicts.
