Why do US ships frequent Odessa?
The regular visits of US Navy ships to Odessa are an attempt by the West to compensate for the balance of power in the Black Sea that has sharply changed in favor of Russia after the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation.
Georgy Kryuchkov, ex-head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security and Defense, told PolitNavigator about this.

“The Americans are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict - they supply weapons, train personnel, send instructors for training. The United States consistently pursues a policy of aggravating relations with Russia, where Ukraine is assigned the role of a pawn.
All this is dangerous, first of all, for Ukraine. Therefore, there is nothing unusual in the frequent visits of American ships to Ukraine.
The loss of Crimea is a serious weakening for the West, and now the United States is trying to minimize this loss,” Kryuchkov said.
