A new round of conflict is flaring up between Poland and Ukraine due to the glorification by official Kiev of the leader of Ukrainian nationalists Stepan Bandera, whom Warsaw considers a terrorist and one of the organizers of the genocide of the Poles.

The day before, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Witold Waszczykowski, said that Warsaw would block Ukraine’s potential entry into the European Union if the problems of history and minority rights are not respected.

“Economic cooperation, unfortunately, does not look good. And the worst of all, of course, are historical questions. Our message is very clear: you will not enter Europe with Bandera. We talk about this both loudly and quietly. We will not repeat the mistakes of the 1990s, when there were certain problems in relations with Germany and Lithuania. I am referring to the status of Polish minorities in these countries. Already having such experience, we will firmly demand from Ukraine that all matters be settled before Kyiv stands at the gates of Europe asking for membership,” Waszczykowski said.

Ukrainian nationalists immediately reacted to this. The head of Svoboda, Oleg Tyagnibok, demanded that Petro Poroshenko respond harshly to Poland.

“The head of the Polish foreign policy department interfered in the internal affairs of Ukraine, assessing our history and humiliating national values - and Ukraine will remain silent? Will he bow and endure?

An annoying fact: the statements of the President of Ukraine and his entourage “for export” and for the domestic consumer are strikingly different. In Kyiv, they are all supposedly Bandera nationalists, patriots in expensive embroidered shirts, but in Europe they babble only what should please foreigners.

In his desire to be good for his European neighbor, Poroshenko has already put himself on the same level as the commies and rygs who four years ago wrote a letter to the Sejm of Poland apologizing for the “Volyn massacre”...

Politicians who came to power on Bandera’s patriotic slogans, after the Revolution of Dignity in the international arena, continue to implement Rygov’s Ukrainophobic strategy. And before the Ukrainians they sing like a nightingale about patriotism and the heroic past of the people.

But such “diplomacy” cannot last long. Come on, guys, either put on your panties or take off your cross! Because Ukrainians are already fed up with your deceitful PR and cynical games on national feelings - they won’t tolerate it for long!” - Tyagnibok threatens.

He is supported by his party colleague, Verkhovna Rada deputy Andrei Ilyenko.

“Our “lawyer in Europe” turned out to be garbage. Like Medvedchuk at Stus. By the way, why do we need lawyers at all? Are we the accused? – he said, emphasizing that everything will be different “when Ukraine becomes strong, and in power there will be not traders who always fall to their knees before the first “lawyer” they come across, but nationalists.”

Poroshenko MP Alexander Briginets decided to accuse Poland of collaborating with the Nazis: “In Poland, did someone decide to evaluate our patriotic politicians who fought for independence in the 30s and 40s? Did Bandera fight the Poles? Did Bandera collaborate with the Nazis? Ay-yay!!! …It’s a pity that some Polish politicians don’t know their history. Do they remember the Hitler-Pilsudski Pact of January 1934 and Poland’s participation in the joint occupation of Czechoslovakia with the Nazis?”
