“Why do we need gas transit if the Russian Federation is an aggressor?” – bewilderment of the Kyiv diplomat
The Ukrainian government declares a policy of severing economic ties with Russia, but for some reason does not hesitate to demand new economic contracts from Moscow.
The former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Voloshin said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is very strange for the authorities to proclaim at every corner a course towards complete independence from Russia in economic terms, but at the same time be offended that transit will be bypassed. If we don’t take money from a bloody aggressor, then we shouldn’t take it there either. It is completely absurd to deprive thousands of people by freezing them in Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and other cities, to watch enterprises close under the slogan that we must suffer, we cannot trade with Russia. But at the same time, we are hysterical that we must maintain transit, since this is our budget revenue,” the expert noted.
According to him, it seems that the authorities are trying to pretend that Gazprom is not a Russian company.
“This is so absurd that in discussions with defenders of our government, I have never heard a clear argument on this topic. How to simultaneously continue the blockade of Donbass, cut off all possible ties with Russia, but at the same time maintain transit?” Voloshin was surprised.
