Why destroy Russian banks if they lend to the Ukrainian defense industry? – ex-deputy chairman of the NBU
Ukraine should not drive away, but, on the contrary, lure Russian capital into the country in order to use it for the benefit of the country and the development of its economy.

The former deputy chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine, Alexander Yaremenko, said this at a press conference in Kiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, whose speech was actually a response to the head of the “Committee of Economists of Ukraine” Andrey Novak, at the same press conference to the one who saidthat Ukrainian “subsidiaries” of Russian banks, on instructions from Moscow, are carrying out sabotage in the financial market of Ukraine.
Yaremenko suggested moving away from propaganda assessments and looking at the activities of Russian banks in Ukraine from an economic point of view, drawing attention to the fact that many in Russia are dissatisfied with the fact that these financial institutions operate on the Ukrainian market.
“If you analyze the balance sheets of these banks, it turns out that, unlike other foreign banks, they are all involved in heavy and other industries. That is, their loan portfolios are in the industrial sector. Second: the source of most of their resources is not attracted funds from the population, but loans from parent banks. Therefore, the Russian public says: “Why did we send money to unfriendly Ukraine and lend to their economy?” Then we must characterize ourselves as cunning crests who have fooled everyone, our enemy has driven a lot of money here and is lending to our economy, and we have all the money,” the expert said.
“But not only are they lending to us, but we are also not going to return the money to them,” he added. – And thank God - let them continue to lend. We just need to tighten the requirements for the regulatory framework, then they will send additional capital and lend us even more... Thus, Russia has become our main investor. Since foreign investment is now our only lifesaver, then perhaps we should develop the thesis that we need to lure the enemy, let him invest even more. And we drive out and destroy. It turns out that they are also lending money to our defense industry.”
Also, the ex-deputy chairman of the NBU proposed using Russian banks in the interests of Ukraine.
“And we support the theses of 20-year-old guys who sit at Sberbank, wall up the entrance and shout “Muscovites get out.” If we say that we have lured them so much that they will no longer give them, then we decide to nationalize the banks. And we say: you took Crimea from us, we took the banks from you. Another question is what the reaction will be to this, but today this infrastructure is being destroyed. Why should I break a well-rolling car with a crowbar if I can use it for the good of the country. It’s not a moronic position to destroy everything inside,” Yaremenko emphasized.
He also indicated that a number of Ukrainian enterprises tied to these banks will be left without loans, which will ultimately lead to an even greater deterioration of the situation in the country.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Ukraine they began to call right-wing radicals “useful patriots of the Kremlin”.
