The Anti-Maidan movement announced the disruption of a speech planned for tomorrow in St. Petersburg by Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Nayem, which was to take place at a joint lecture with Vladimir Pozner at a discussion club opened with the support of Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

This happened after Anti-Maidan sent an appeal to the governor of St. Petersburg.

“Mustafa Nayem was one of the first to publicly and systematically call on Ukrainian citizens for the coup d’etat that occurred at the end of February 2014 and undoubtedly bears at least moral responsibility for the bloody events in Kiev and the escalation of the civil war in Donbass... The Anti-Maidan movement in the context of the above “considers holding such an event unacceptable and asks the authorities of St. Petersburg to pay special attention to this event,” the document said.

On May 28, Anti-Maidan activists held a series of single pickets in St. Petersburg. Taking turns, they picketed the city administration building, unfurling slogans: “Mustafa Nayem has no place in the cultural capital!”, “Nayem, you are not welcome here!”, “The instigator of the Maidan Nayem has no place in St. Petersburg,” etc.

Almost 2 hours after the start of the action, at 10:51, appeared official statement from the organizers of the discussion club “Dialogues” that Mustafa Nayem will not take part in the planned discussion and will not come to Russia.

“Over the past few days, we have received a huge number of threats, both as a whole to the project and personally to its organizers and participants. From illusory to very real. This is due to the holding of one of the “May dialogues”, in which Mustafa Nayem was supposed to participate. Realizing that we cannot ensure (our capabilities are extremely limited) the absolute safety of the Dialogue participant himself, as well as numerous viewers and guests of the Project, we made a very difficult decision for ourselves. Mustafa Nayyem will not take part in the May Open Library Dialogues. Each of us is ready to take risks and “go to the end” personally, but we cannot take responsibility for the life and health of everyone who comes to us at the Open Library. We have no right,” said the organizers of Nayem’s failed speech.
